I worked on this album for almost a year, starting around the beginning of 2022 and wrapping it up near the very end… In that time, I changed deeply, more than I maybe have ever changed before…. I came out, I fell in love., ,I experienced some of the happiest days of my life, and also felt some of the most all-encompassing terror I have ever felt… Some of these songs were written in moments of pure joy, others as I ran screaming from my own fear, and some composed specifically to engender meditation in tha midst of it…

Nyways. this is the most accurate self-portrait I’ve ever painted. every piece of me is in there. Sometimes making it felt like I wasn’t leaving enough 4 myself, I poured so much in.

It’s impossible for me to list everyone to thank!! If you’ve believed in me and been there for me, u know, and u’re in this album. Everyone who has loved me, seen me, made me feel held, they r all little residents of these worlds I’ve built, and if you walk around in them long enough, you’ll encounter each of them on your own ;3 find them, or ask me about it sometime.

special shoutout to Sheep for the album cover photoshoots, the multiple design sessions (lol), the storytelling, as well as all of the other (thankless :x) work that goes into making this release happen. And for telling me “I don’t care about genre, I want the best music AKAFAË makes.” that changed it all 4 me.
